Open Question: A few questions on Buddhism?

First off, I'm very new to Buddhism and don't know a lot about it. There's a few questions i can't seem to find the answers to on the internet. If there is no self, how are you reborn? They say the karma from this life will affect your next life, but how can you have another life if there is no you? I don't fully understand the 6/10(?) realms of existence. Are they just states of mind, or actual places? For example, if you're born in hell, are you born in a physical place called hell or just a horrible state of mind?
